UPDATE: DDOT has also postponed the previously scheduled closures of the inbound lanes on the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge this weekend to accommodate the marathon. DDOT has rescheduled the bridge work for next weekend, weather permitting.

Nearly 5,000 runners will take to District roads tomorrow to compete in the Wirefly National Marathon. The race is set to start at 6:30 AM at RFK Stadium. As it takes runners through every quadrant of the city, dozens of roads will be closed to traffic and parking until the race wraps up around 2:00 PM. Only 5 streets – the E Street Expressway; K Street, NW; Massachusetts Avenue, NW; Rhode Island Avenue, NW; and New York Avenue, NW – will allow drivers to reach the interior of the course. Thirty seven Metrobus routes will also be rerouted for the race.

All of the street closings are listed on the District Department of Transportation’s website, and you can check out a map of the race here

City transportation officials have recommended that anyone planning to travel into the District on Saturday use Metrorail. For spectators, Stadium-Armory, Archives, Federal Triangle, Smithsonian, Woodley Park, and Union Station Metro stops are the best places to watch the race.

Good luck to both runners and travelers!
