Good morning, Washington. We wake today to some stunning revelations: It appears the Centers for Disease Control have issued a new report that “confirms” that men are far more likely to have many sexual partners than women are. In related findings, the report, which was compiled from self-reported surveys of American adults, also indicates that American men have the largest penises of any country in the world and that American women are far more slender and yet miraculously big-breasted than anyone had ever given them credit for. And now for your regular headlines.

Sparring Over Fate of Hospital: The chairman of the company that owns the beleagured Greater Southeast Community Hospital, Paul Tuft, says D.C. Council member David A. Catania (I-At Large) has threatened to “destroy” him and his company if he doesn’t sell the facility immediately. Catania denies most of Tuft’s account, but does say he has rightly pushed the company to sell the hospital as quickly as possible.

Eastern Market Vendors Worry About Progress: The Examiner went down to Eastern Market this weekend to check in on how the vendors displaced by April’s fire are holding up. On Saturday they reported that many of the vendors are deeply skeptical of the progress being made on the temporary structure promised to be delivered by Mayor Adrian Fenty by July 15. The site shows little evidence that a building, even a temporary one, could soon be in place there. A spokesperson for Mayor Fenty said that lots of work has been done, but that it’s mostly wiring and plumbing, and not necessarily work that you can see above ground.
